Summary of Services

Support Groups:

1. Early Stage Memory Loss Support Group meets monthly second Wednesday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM in the Conference room of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Kerrville.

2. Alzheimer's and Related Dementia Support Group meets monthly the second Wednesday at 1:30 PM at The Haven, 747 Alpine in Kerrville.

3. Alzheimer's and Related Dementia Support Group meets monthly the second Thursday at 2:30 PM in Fredericksburg at Golden Hub Center, 1009 N Lincoln.

4. Cancer Support Group meets monthly the second Wednesday at 5:00 PM at the Kerrville Cancer Center.

5. Alzheimer's and Related Dementia Support Group meets monthly the 3rd Monday, Noon - 1:30 PM at Room 107 Family Center, First United Methodist Church, Boerne.

6. Cardiovascular Support Group meets monthly first Thursday at Noon, Wellness Center of Hill Country Memorial Hospital, 106 HWY 16 South, Fredericksburg.

Educational programs - concerning issues for Seniors.

Good Neighbor Programs

Law Enforcement, EMS and Fire Department Training for TECLOSE credits.

Professional Conferences providing CEs for Nursing, Social Workers, Professionals and Family Caregivers.

Chronic Disease Self-Management Program "My Health Matters" Evidence-based program for older adults developed by Stanford University, School of Medicine, Patient Education Research Center presented by Senior CARES of the HCCC and AACOG.

Warning Signs Checklist
for Independent Living

This checklist is designed to alert you if a senior may not be capable of meeting all of his or her needs. Check each area that applies to your loved one or yourself. Even one checked area is a warning sign that should not be ignored.

  • Eating - Individual is eating incorrectly or not eating at all
  • Bathing / Hygiene - Individual is not bathing and is uninterested in personal hygiene
  • Dressing / Grooming - Individual has lost interest in appearance or does not dress all day
  • Medications - Individual takes medicine at the wrong time or takes the wrong dosage
  • Housekeeping - Individual is not able to keep or clean house as before
  • Mobility - Individual cannot ambulate without some assistance or has frequent falls
  • Security / Safety - Individual is alone, vulnerable and may require daily visits
  • Independence - Individual is increasingly dependent on others for assistance with transportation, shopping, financial affairs, laundry, etc
  • Socialization - Individual is not in contact with others or lacks group interaction.

This is a guide for seniors
and their loved ones

Even one area of deficiency can determine the need for more assistance. The goal is well-being. There are many housing options available throughout the Hill Country.
